Very solid chain: Good balance of weight vs. security.
This lock has served me well now for over a year. It's not light, but it's a solid design! There's a video on youtube of a guy trying to take apart the locking cylinder, and it's clear that this is not a lock you break without putting in a fair amount of effort. The hardened chain also seems to be sufficiently solid to withstand small and medium size bolt cutters, although anything can be cut, if you have the right tools. This chain at least seems to be able to deter your average thief. The key can be a bit tricky to get to turn, but in my case all I need to do is give it some WD40 once or twice a year. Also, the lock and the chain can be a bit hard to align, when locking it, and I ended up cutting off a bit of the rubber around the slot in the locking cylinder to make it a bit easier. Finally, the chain is long enough to lock my bike to most objects around town. I feel like it's a good compromise and wouldnt want it any shorter, but also not longer as the weight would be too high. All in all, it's a great lock so far!------------------------UPDATE (APRIL 2020): Lock is still working without issue. Again, make sure to give it a bit of oil once in a while. But that's about it.UPDATE (March 2018): The lock is still going strong and everything still works fine. I continue to give it a bit of oil once in a while (WD40). Other than that, I've had no issues.

Weighty, but that's what it's for
This is a lovely beast of a chain. I had a bike stolen from my yard, so now I use this when locking it at home or on the road. It's long enough to fit around smaller poles and through the tired and frame. But it certainly won't fit around telephone poles or anything of that size. I like the weight and substance that it has.The only small complaint is that the locking mechanism isn't as precise as it could be. I saw other reviewers mention it, so I was prepared. The way to deal with it is to gently work the key in both directions while applying gentle pressure to ensure it's all the way in the hole. If it's even a millimetre out, it won't lock or unlock, so keep an eye out for that. Definitely not a big deal, and anyone citing that as a serious complaint must have a pretty charmed life for that to rate on their scale of grievances.

    Versatile and easy to carry.
I know that pretty much any bike lock can be broken by a determined thief, but a good lock buys you time. The more time and work it takes to break a lock the less likely a thief is to deal with it. I only leave my bike locked unattended for short periods of time when popping into the post offi ce, grocery store or when taking a break on my journey. I chose this because it's made by a leading and trusted bike lock manufacturer and it can easily be wrapped around my down tube when I'm riding, leaving my bag free to carry other more comfortable items. This is the perfect length, weight and size for my needs and I really like the lock mechanism and the protective sleeve.

    Too short.
There are some good reviews how strong the item is and that it is hard to break (the lock). But - there are other videos that show how easy it is to freeze the chain and simply break it.Overall not too bad but extremely short. The chain is rather heavy to carry in a back pack but it is ok if attached to the bike. The biggest draw back however is the length. It is very limiting where you can attach the bike to. Also - if you want to protect the front wheel too - you will have to dismount it. If you wa nt "this" item you may want to consider longer version.

    AWESOME!!!!
Excellent quality lock, this by it's appearance is already a theft deterrent, the heavy duty faceted chain links and locking mechanism are perfect for a big city with a big bike theft problem, i would use this to commute and shop. but i would combine this lock with another U-Lock type if you plan to lock this up outside overnight, this lock can be broken if the thief is given enough time, so don't be cheap, if you lock your bike up outside, use another U-Lock. thieves are lazy, they won't bother with a bike with 2 locks

I dont know how my bike never got stolen before with thin wire cable locks but i saw a video on YouTube about how easy they are to cut and i instantly did my research and came to buying this one. Well worth the money and it comes with extra keys you can order online if you lose them and not included but optional warranty that will cover bikes stolen up to $500

    Amazing lock
This chain is excellent for a bike worth $500 or less. I have a more expensive bike and I just use this to chain the back wheel to the frame. If you have a more expensive bike or like in a really dangerous area for theft get the Kryptonite U-Lock New York Standard. Otherwise this hefty chain will be a great choice, plus they offer theft protection of $500 if someone breaks your chain and steals your bike. Highly recommend.
